THE ELIZABETH DOLE LIBRARY:

Elizabeth Dole: A Leader in Washington by Eileen Lucas (1998). This biography of Mrs. Dole is written for children aged 9-12. One must presume that a more in-depth Elizabeth Dole bio will emerge at some time during the 2000 campaign but, until then, this short children's book for pre-teen Republicans is all there is. Follow the link to read more about the book. List: $20.90. Your Price: $18.81 (You Save 10%).

Great Political Wit: Laughing (Almost) All the Way to the White House by Bob Dole (1998). Throughout his lengthy career in politics, Bob Dole acquired a deserved reputation for having a dry sense of humor. During much of the 1996 campaign, his handlers forced him to refrain from making the caustic, funny remarks he was previously known for. Now that the 1996 campaign is well behind him, potential First Husband Bob Dole feels free to let loose again. This book is a good collection of political humor -- not just from Dole -- from a lot of the politicians on both sides of the aisle including Tip O'Neill, Ronald Reagan, JFK and others. I still remember one Dole joke he told during his 1980 campaign: "The only difference between the Carter White House and the Boy Scouts is that the Boy Scouts have adult leadership." This enjoyable book is much like the similar written by the late liberal politician Mo Udall nearly a decade ago. Follow the link to read more about the book. List: $16.95. Your Price: $11.87 (You Save 30%).
